Great lesson of humanity and dignity

politicaQuando la politica uccide gli innocenti.

Sitting in my studio and watching the processing of the return of the remains of yet another Malaysia Airlines disaster in less than six months, I felt that we do take too many things, acts and events for granted. And by so doing we are not able to understand how much lucky we are and how much gratitude we owe the Almighty.

It is despicable that a family composed of fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, friends, adults and children should be killed just because one potential country thinks that this could be the best way to attract attention to its greedy political intention of ruling a territory. What do ordinary simple people travelling for leisure or business had done to worth paying with their own lives and the grieves of their loved ones for the simple sake of the desire of a country to own a piece of another country’s land, fl exing muscles to show the world that ‘‘they’ve got the power’’? Yes, the power to kill 298 people and maybe getting away with it doing some fi nger pointing. It is a real paradox today to learn that some people are practicing separatism when the whole world is interconnecting and borders are being brought down not only physically but also virtually through all the means of communications and social media that have literally invaded our daily lives. What sense is there today, in the year 2014, to want to go back to the USSR which had been dismantled for years and people are being free to be part of one single world under the umbrella of the so called ‘‘United Nations’’? Big word: United Nations, are we really united? Aren’t there enough problems with the turmoil and yet another killings going on between the Israelis and Palestinians who started bombarding themselves just some few weeks after playing the farse role of intent peace ‘‘praying’’ and teasing themselves in the the garden of the Vatican City mocking the respectable Pope Francis who was only trying to bridge the gap and bring peace.

We do not need another 9/11 whereby travelling would be exercised with double thoughts fears of not coming back home alive just because we choose to spend our time to explore our beautiful world and learn about our diverse geographical, social and cultural identities.

The only relatively and surprisingly ‘’positive’’ aspect I have been able to take away from these ugly context of passenger planes being brought down with the excuse of thinking that it was a war-plane is the civil act The Netherlands is showing these hours and these days. The bodies were welcomed and treated in military and honoured, respect manner. The King Willem-Alexander and the Queen Maxima were but a few of a long list of dignitaries and respectable individuals who were there on the tarmac to welcome bodies of passengers yet to be identifi ed, through the help of the forensic experts, and eventually returned to their pain thorn relatives. It is moving to see how the Dutch had been handling this affair. Finally these unlucky people have started having the due respect they worth and The Netherlands have shown the whole world how to treat human beings independently of what their religion, creed, origin, social classes are. High treatment just simply because they are human beings. Basic. Same thing done, though in a low key, with the drowned immigrants that keep arriving dead along our south coast in Italy.

That of the Dutch is nothing but a fi rst class treatment on the contrary of the looting and shameful jackal ransacking that occurred on the location and ground of the disaster immediately after. We would have expected at least some respect and dignifi ed treatment for MH 370 fl ight victims, whom we still do not know the whereabouts to date. If only their relatives had the same moral support maybe they would at least try to swallow the bitter pills while waiting to know and have the remains of their loved ones, if that would ever happen.

My due respect to the Dutch people considering the lesson of civilization taught to us all.

Enjoy!
